PGCIL Successfully completed the test charging of 6,000 MW-800 kV HVDC Raigarh -Pugalur stations. The project is executed by a consortium of ABB-BHEL. The total project value is worth more than $840 million.

Exalt is proud to be associated with the project for Design-Manufacture-Type testing-supply of 400 kV Clamps & connectors (AC Yard).

The 800 kV Ultra-High-Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) system connects Raigarh in Central India to Pugalur in the south. The 1775-Km link will be among the longest in the world.

Capacity of 6,000 MW will be enough to meet the electricity needs of over 80 million people in India.

The two-way link will integrate thermal and wind energy for transmission of power to high consumption centers located thousands of kilometres away.

The turnkey project encompasses design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning and major equipment supplies include the complete UHVDC stations, including transformers, converter valves, cooling systems, as well as control and protection technology.

With the commissioning of this dream project yesterday, India has made a breakthrough in the HVDC network in the world map.
